The event which held in Hallydays Hotel Makurdi had as its core objective focused on mitigating violence before, during and after the 2019 general election in the Benue State.
The Bayelsa and Kogi States gubernatorial election held 16th November 2019 as scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In Bayelsa State, 45 political parties fielded candidates (42 males and 3 females) in the election, Whereas Kogi State, had 24 political parties with 24 governorship candidates made up of 21 males and 3 females.
In continuation of the 2019 general elections in Nigeria, the Governorship and state assembly elections was held in 29 states, including the six FCT area council. The election like the presidential and National assembly election also suffered postponement from March 02 to March 09, 2019 due to logistic challenges from the election management body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Bayelsa State gubernatorial election was held on the 16th of November 2019 as scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). 45 political parties fielded candidates (42 males and 3 females) for the election, making a 125% increase from the number of candidates that contested for the position in 2015. The state has a total number of 923,182 registered voters out of an estimated population of 1.8 million.
In continuation of the 2019 general elections in Nigeria, the Governorship and state assembly elections was held in 29 states, including the six FCT area council elections.
The Africa Centre for Leadership Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) in collaboration with Priests Peace and Justice Initiative (PPJ) trained and deployed 419 domestic observers to 14 states (Akwa Ibom, Benue, Borno, Delta, Edo, Imo, Enugu, Kogi, Lagos, Niger, Kano, Oyo, Rivers,) of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
