Dr (Mrs.) Margaret Fagboyo is the Director of Development at the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD), where she leads the strategic design and execution of programs focused on inclusive growth, gender equality, and sustainable development across Africa. Under the Centre’s Development Pillar, she oversees initiatives that promote Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), fostering good governance by promoting transparency, accountability, and participatory governance in public institutions, and civil society through advocacy, capacity building, and multi-stakeholder engagement, driving sustainable development solutions, promoting community led development and resource mobilization strategic partnerships.
With 24 years of experience in international development and multilateral partnerships, Dr Fagboyo is a seasoned development practitioner. She spent 18 years with the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID, now FCDO), rising to the role of Acting Regional Coordinator for South West/South South Nigeria. From 2019 to 2022, she served as Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Development Partnerships and the SDGs, contributing to strategic policy execution at the state executive level.
Dr Fagboyo holds a Master's degree in Public Administration and International Affairs from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Ado Ekiti. In recognition of her contributions to public service, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Public Administration (Honoris Causa) by Charisma University, Turks and Caicos Islands, a British Overseas Territory, in July 2021.
She has played key national and sub-national roles, including serving as a member of the Federal Government’s National Technical Working Group on National Poverty Reduction and Growth Strategy (NPRGS), a member of the Ekiti Economic Development and Investment Team, and Secretary of the Ekiti State Covid-19 Response Resource Mobilization Committee.
Dr Fagboyo’s leadership has been widely recognized. She received the Africa Community Hero Award from Global Skills Hub UK under the Africa Heroes Project 2025, the National Leadership Award from the Coalition of Civil Society in Nigeria in 2022, the United Nations Distinguished Leadership Award in 2019, and the UKAID-DFID Individual Special Achievement Awards in 2002 and 2005, respectively.
She is a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria (ISMN) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
