Dr. Emenike Umesi is a Disaster Science Fellow, certified Emergency Manager, and certified Business Continuity Planner with over two decades of multidisciplinary experience spanning disaster risk reduction, emergency planning, business continuity, and strategic management. He brings a deep blend of academic insight and practical expertise to his work in public safety, development planning, and organizational resilience.
He holds a Ph.D. in Development Studies, an MBA in Management, and a Certificate in Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Planning from the Harvard University School of Public Health. His academic and professional work bridges theory and application, focusing on risk-informed development, emergency preparedness, and institutional resilience in the face of complex emergencies.
He has held senior management positions across both the private and public sectors, where he led high-impact initiatives on crisis response, public health emergency coordination, and business continuity planning. His work has supported national and organizational strategies to mitigate risks, protect critical infrastructure, and ensure service continuity during disruptions.
Dr. Umesi is widely recognized for his ability to translate complex emergency scenarios into actionable strategies. His professional practice is anchored in evidence-based planning, inter-agency coordination, and capacity-building for sustainable development.
