Leadership that transforms,
not just informs

At the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD), leadership forms the cornerstone of our institutional vision and operational framework. We believe that transformational leadership is the catalyst for sustainable development, strategic execution, and institutional reform. Without strong, visionary, and values-driven leadership at all levels—individual, organizational, and national—Africa’s full potential will remain unrealized.

As Myles Munroe rightly stated, “everything rises and falls on leadership.” Chinua Achebe echoed this when he declared, “the trouble with Nigeria is simply and squarely a failure of leadership.” Sadly, many African nations, including Nigeria, continue to grapple with poor leadership capacity, weak institutions, inadequate recruitment processes, and limited citizen engagement. Centre LSD’s Leadership Pillar was established to change this narrative.

We believe that Africa’s sustainable development depends on visionary, ethical, and strategic leaders.

Our approach

We address Africa’s leadership crisis by:

Providing free and accessible leadership education to youth, professionals, and public servants.
Expanding both leader development (individual capacity) and leadership development (organizational and systemic capacity).
Running targeted programmes for SMEs, NGOs, CBOs, and public institutions.
Creating platforms for mentorship, policy engagement, and civic participation.

Our impact so far

Since inception, we have achieved a lot:

2,700+ leaders trained across Nigeria and Africa
6 Leadership School annexes established in Delta, Ebonyi, Abakaliki, Plateau, Edo, and the FCT
250+ organizations engaged through strategic leadership trainings
Alumni leading community-driven development strategies rooted in values, policy, and people-centered approaches

Our leadership programmes

Leadership school

Launched in 2009 and institutionalized under Centre LSD in 2010, the Leadership School is our flagship programme designed to cultivate visionary leaders equipped with values, strategy, and social consciousness.

Open to youth and middle-level professionals across Africa, this free one-year intensive programme combines practical learning, ethical grounding, and transformational thinking. With campuses in six states and the FCT, it is led by seasoned facilitators from across the continent.

Leadership Institute

The Leadership Institute is a one-week intensive training programme designed for mid-level managers, chief executives, senior professionals, and institutional leaders from the public and private sectors.

Delivered through our social enterprise, ACLSD Global Consulting Ltd, the training blends African context with global leadership standards. Participants gain advanced skills in leadership strategy, systems thinking, organizational culture, and policy engagement, preparing them to lead with insight, integrity, and impact.

Donor-Funded Leadership Programming

Centre LSD implements a variety of donor-supported leadership programmes tailored to build leadership capacity across civil society, youth networks, grassroots organizations, and public institutions.

Policy advocacy training on ethical leadership and accountable governance
Public dialogues, thought leadership events, and research to influence reforms across Africa
