See More ResourcesThis report documents the process and outcomes of a Centre LSD-led project to design and validate a decolonization and anti-racism learning curriculum for development practitioners in Nigeria. Through literature reviews, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and stakeholder workshops, the project examined how colonial legacies continue to shape development practice, knowledge systems, and social structures. The curriculum challenges Western epistemologies, promotes inclusive approaches, and calls for transformative learning and partnerships rooted in justice and equality.
Findings reveal that while the concepts of decolonization and anti-racism are still emerging in Nigeria’s development discourse, there is growing recognition of their relevance. Participants emphasized the need for context-specific strategies, gender and social inclusion, and reorientation of faith-based and civil society actors. The report provides actionable insights and a validated framework for training, advocacy, and systemic reform, offering a foundation for further research and engagement across Nigeria and beyond.
