See More ResourcesThis report captures the remarkable journey and sustained impact of the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) from its founding in 2010 through its 14th year in 2024. Operating on the pillars of leadership, strategy, and development, the Centre has become a national and regional thought leader—transforming governance, building resilient institutions, and empowering communities across Nigeria and West Africa.
In the last 14 years, Centre LSD has trained over 2,165 graduates through its Leadership Schools in six states, strengthened 709 civil society leaders, and championed gender inclusion by leading efforts like the abolition of the “money woman” practice and mainstreaming women in mining governance.
Strategically, the Centre has shaped national and regional policy. It helped review the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act, co-developed the revised Community Development Agreement (CDA) guidelines, and convened West African stakeholders to harmonize extractive governance policies.
Its development programmes have enrolled thousands of girls in school, advanced Open Government Partnership (OGP) adoption in 25 states, monitored clean-up advocacy in the Niger Delta, and delivered social protection to over 124,000 households through cash transfers, agriculture, and nutrition initiatives.
In 2024 alone, Centre LSD reached over 3 million people through social media and advocacy campaigns, produced 200 infographics, 51 videos, and organized high-level dialogues, including the constitutional summit for gender inclusion.
This milestone report is a record of Centre LSD’s evolution from a leadership think tank to a dynamic agent of systemic change—mobilizing citizens, influencing policy, empowering youth, and creating lasting social transformation across Nigeria and beyond.
