This film explores how patriarchy is quietly built within the home, through the everyday roles assigned to children.
From a young age, girls are often taught to cook, clean, and serve, while boys are positioned to be served and treated as superior. Though normalized, these patterns shape deep beliefs about power, entitlement, and gender roles - beliefs that follow children into adulthood.
From Patriarchy to Plantain sheds light on how these early socialization practices contribute to gender inequality and, in many cases, gender-based violence (GBV). It challenges us to reflect on how we are raising the next generation and the long-term impact of these choices.
The film calls for a shift: one where boys and girls are raised with shared values of respect, responsibility, and equality. Because real change begins at home. It’s time to rethink. It’s time to raise differently.
