See More ResourcesThis training manual is a practical and transformative resource designed to equip grassroots advocates with the knowledge and tools to lead change in communities impacted by extractive activities, environmental degradation, and systemic exclusion. Developed under Centre LSD’s Intersectional Leadership Incubator (ILI) Fellowship, the manual blends participatory education with real-world case studies to build leaders capable of driving gender equity, environmental justice, and accountable governance.
The content emphasizes intersectionality and inclusive leadership, taking fellows through structured courses on resource governance, climate justice, legal frameworks, strategic communication, and advocacy planning. It features hands-on activities, reflection tools, community engagement strategies, and a mentorship framework to support long-term leadership development. Drawing from experiences across Nigeria, such as oil spill litigation in Ogoni Land and community-led budget advocacy in Zamfara—the manual bridges theory and activism.
More than just a guide, the manual positions leadership as a collective, inclusive effort, rooted in lived experience and driven by a vision of justice, sustainability, and systemic change. It is an essential tool for facilitators, activists, and development practitioners committed to building a new generation of intersectional leaders in Africa.
