A dynamic digital library and central knowledge repository designed to amplify learning, inspire action, and drive development across Africa.
See More ResourcesThis guide is an instructional and participatory tool designed to support facilitators engaging key influencers—such as traditional leaders, religious authorities, youth mentors, and community gatekeepers—in advocacy efforts aimed at reducing Gender-Based Violence (GBV), advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and eliminating Harmful Practices (HP) in Nigeria.
Developed under the Male Engagement Program, supported by the European Union and the United Nations, the guide is grounded in the belief that engaging men and boys as allies is essential for transforming entrenched gender norms and achieving sustainable social change. It offers practical methodologies for facilitating dialogue, challenging harmful stereotypes, and mobilizing community leaders to promote gender equity and protect vulnerable groups.
The guide uses interactive approaches, including role-playing, storytelling, and scenario analysis, enabling facilitators to tailor sessions to diverse audiences. It emphasizes respectful communication, rights-based frameworks, and culturally sensitive engagement while maintaining focus on legal and policy standards for GBV prevention.
Serving both as a workshop manual and a movement-building tool, the publication is part of the broader #MenAgainstSGBV campaign. It is essential for practitioners working in community advocacy, public health, and human rights who seek to build supportive, informed, and proactive communities that challenge and dismantle gender-based violence at its roots.
