A dynamic digital library and central knowledge repository designed to amplify learning, inspire action, and drive development across Africa.
See More ResourcesThis manual is a practical resource created by Centre LSD for Christian Aid Nigeria to guide development practitioners in confronting colonial legacies and systemic racism embedded in social development work. It explores the concepts of decolonisation and antiracism from a Nigerian context, offering frameworks, historical analysis, and locally grounded methodologies that challenge Western-centric models of knowledge and power. The manual draws attention to how coloniality shapes poverty, governance, and social interventions, advocating for inclusive, indigenous, and equitable approaches.
Through ten comprehensive modules, it addresses power imbalances in policy, knowledge production, and identity, encouraging reflection and transformation at both institutional and individual levels. It includes strategies for NGOs, insights on gender and faith dimensions, and tools for building anti-oppressive practices. Rooted in African philosophies like Omoluabi, the manual is a call to shift development practice toward justice, cultural authenticity, and community empowerment.
