The African Centre for Leadership Strategy & Development (Centre LSD), in furtherance of its programming on Elections and Governance in Nigeria, is convening a Policy Dialogue on Voter Turnout in Nigeria. Without doubt, elections are fundamental to democracy and remain the direct mechanism within a democratic system by which citizens have a say in who governs them. In Nigeria, there has been a steady decline in voter turnout witnessed in the conduct of elections. From 69.08 % in 2003 to 26.72 % in 2023. Pundits posited that Nigeria may be experiencing voter burnout.
According to Mr. Itia Otabor, Director of Strategy at Centre LSD, the Policy Dialogue is convened to examine the issues, challenges, and other factors behind low voter’ turnout during Elections. It will also proffer Policy solutions and actions to change the trajectory.
The event holds on Tuesday, 15th April 2025. Time: 11 am
