See More ResourcesThe African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) as part of her activities in the implementation of the Community Led Collective Action for Girls Education (C-CAGE) project in partnership with Malala Fund, Tuesday 21st 2020 commenced the town hall meeting for Maiha, Numan & Song Local Government in Adamawa State.
The meeting which is holding in the 3 focal local government areas of Song, Numan and Maiha aims at extracting commitment from community leaders and education stakeholder and proffering possible ways for progress in improving the plight of the girl child in their community and in the northeastern part of Nigeria in light of the Covid 19 Pandemic ravaging the world. The need therefore is to bring stakeholders in the education sector together to discuss and evolve concrete strategies that will create the enabling environment for out of school girls to enroll back to school, be retained and complete their secondary education in the state and northeast in general.
Participants expected at the meeting are key gate keepers of the aforementioned local government areas including Community/Religious leaders, School Authority, local government heads, teachers, parents, facilitation, head of Maso Son Ilimi club in each local government.
A statement by Ms. Frances Igwilo, the Gulmakai Champion for Malala fund, said meeting has become imperative with the resumption of school in Adamawa State after lockdown period due to Covid 19 Pandemic. Clean water and good sanitary conditions help girls stay in school, this will go further to improve education equality.
She enjoined parents and members of the public to join in the campaign for girl-child education especially in northern Nigeria. Local National and global governments and NGO’s should prioritize water, sanitation and hygiene services at schools as viable preventive measures to ensure girls return back to school.
