See More ResourcesThe African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD), with support from the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), will on July 13th, 2017, hold a roundtable meeting with the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development to advance the discussion on effective Natural Resource Governance in Nigeria.
The roundtable meeting, which will be held at Top Rank Hotels, Area 11, Abuja, is aimed at advancing the discussion on achieving effective natural resource Governance and will also serve as a national-level validation forum for the Centre’s research on solid minerals.
Participants will be drawn from the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel and the three focal states of the project: Ebonyi, Ekiti, and Taraba. Participants will include: a representative of each of the state governments, a representative of miners/mining host communities, a representative of CSO/members of the Nigeria Natural Resource Governance Group (NRGG), and mining companies. The Nigeria Mining Association, as well as CSOs working in the extractive sector based in Abuja, will also grace the occasion.
A statement by Omaojor Ogedoh, the project officer, said the roundtable will be a platform for artisanal and small-scale miners to interface with the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development and share some of their challenges and seek better ways to #DoMiningRight.
The release called on members of the public to follow the discussion with the hashtag #DoMiningRight.
