See More ResourcesThe African Centre for Leadership, Strategy, and Development (Centre LSD) has flagged off the presentation and distribution of scholastic materials ceremony, on its project, Community-Led Collective Action for Girls Education (C-CAGE) in partnership with Malala Fund in Adamawa State.
The project which is aimed at increasing the rate of girl-child enrolment, retention and completion at public secondary schools in the State, has recorded tremendous level of success stories, notably is the enrollment of 910 girls into school due our advocacies and campaigns, with 16 safe spaces established for girls to learn basic numeracy and vocational skills.
A statement by Emmanuella Nwahiri, the Programme Assistant of the Centre, stated that the ceremony, which is being held in the 3 focal Local Government Areas of Song, Numan, and Maiha, is to further support and encourage both girls who are in school and girls who have interest to enrolled back to school. The project will be providing educational material (School bags, sandals, exercise books, pencils, and pens) to 317 girls in each of the 3 focal LGAs of the project based on set criteria by the Centre. Poverty being one of the Socioeconomic barriers hindering the enrolment and retention of girls in schools across northern Nigeria, the ceremony is therefore to support and encourage girls in the 3 focal states to go back and complete their secondary education, and also to expose them to the importance of education to the girl child.
The statement enjoined members of the public to join in the campaign for girl-child education, especially in northern Nigeria, and encouraged well-meaning citizens to follow the proceedings of the ceremony by following our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram handles @centrelsd
