See More ResourcesThe African Centre for Leaders Strategy & Development (Centre LSD) will on Monday the 13th of May 2024 commence a rapid assessment of the prevalent forms of gender-based violence in Kano State.
A press statement by the project lead Side-by-Side Movement for Gender Justice at the Centre, Mr. Nyong Essien noted that Gender Based Violence (GBV), especially Violence against women and girls (VAWG), is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violation in our world today. This menace has largely remained unreported due to the impunity, a culture of silence, and the fear of stigmatisation surrounding it.
He noted that Centre LSD will be doing a deep dive to ascertain the prevalence of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the state in order to programme around its prevention. He stated that Centre LSD will also collaborate with response service providers - government and civil society organizations to strengthen the provision of services to victims of GBV. The Rapid Assessment Visit marks the beginning of a two-year project in Benue and Kano States, titled Core support for scaling-up the Side-by-Side Movement to mobilize religious and traditional leaders toward the implementation of GBV-related policies across Nigeria.
He enjoined stakeholders and the public to follow activities on the project on the following media platforms.
