News & Press CentreLSD Feb 25, 2020

The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) as part of her activities in the implementation of the Community Led Collective Action for Girls Education (C-CAGE) project in partnership with Malala Fund shall pay advocacy visit to critical political stakeholders on education as well as hold its bi-annual media engagement this week in Adamawa State.

Centre LSD Advocates to Political Stakeholders and Holds Media Press Briefing on The C-CAGE in Adamawa State

A statement released by Mrs. Frances Okeke, the Malala Champion stated that the aim of the advocacy visit targeted at influential political stakeholders and media engagement with media practitioners is to partner and collaborate on effective and productive ways to reduce the number out-of-school girls in Adamawa with particular focus on Maiha, Numan and Song local government.

Furthermore, it will provide the Centre with the opportunity to update them about developments on the tortuous journey of reducing the out-of-school girls in Adamawa State. It is also meant to draw attention and constantly remind the government and general public of the negative impact of their poor support toward the education of the girl child on society and Nigeria at large. Also calls on the National Assembly to amend the Universal Basic Education Act to fill in the gap and improve girl enrolment and retention through senior secondary school.

She enjoined politicians, government bodies, and members of the public to join in the campaign for girl-child education, especially in northern Nigeria, and encouraged well-meaning citizens to follow the proceedings of the Peer Clubs by following us on our Twitter and Instagram handles @centrelsd and hashtag #Girls2School #Girls@SchoolAdamawa
