The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) as part of her activities in the implementation of the Community Led Collective Action for Girls Education (C-CAGE) project in partnership with Malala Fund, Monday November 4th, 2019 commenced the town hall meeting for Maiha, Numan & Song Local Government in Adamawa State.

Centre Holds Townhall Meeting On The Cage Project in Maiha Numan And Song Local Government Areas, Adamawa State.

The meeting, which is being held in the 3 focal local government areas of Song, Numan, and Maiha, aims to secure input from community leaders and education stakeholders and to proffer possible ways for progress in improving the plight of the girl child in their community and in the northeastern part of Nigeria.

A statement by Ms. Frances Igwilo, the Gulmakai Champion for Malala fund, said meeting has become imperative with the commencement of the girl child safe spaces commissioned at the community levels. The need, therefore, is to bring stakeholders in the education sector together to discuss and evolve concrete strategies that will create the enabling environment for out-of-school girls to enroll back in school, be retained, and complete their secondary education in the state and the northeast in general.

Participants expected at the meeting are key gatekeepers of the aforementioned local government areas, including Community/Religious leaders, School Authority, local government heads, teachers, parents, facilitators, head of Maso Son Ilimi club in each local government.

She enjoined parents and members of the public to join in the campaign for girl-child education, especially in northern Nigeria, and encouraged well-meaning citizens to follow the proceedings of the meetings by following us on our Twitter and Instagram handles.
