Can Africa solve its leadership crisis by rediscovering its own leadership philosophies?
That question is at the heart of the ongoing Convening of Curators of Leadership Programmes on African Leadership Philosophy taking place in Nairobi, Kenya.
Across the continent, leadership programmes continue to draw heavily from frameworks developed outside African contexts. Yet African societies possess rich traditions of leadership grounded in community, dignity, accountability, consensus, stewardship, and ethical conduct.
Over the next two days, participants are exploring how philosophies such as Ubuntu, Omoluabi, Sankofa, Ujamaa, Oha na Eze, and Mutumin Kirki can be integrated into contemporary leadership development systems.
The goal is simple but ambitious:
To build leadership formation models that are ethically grounded, culturally rooted, and globally relevant.
