See More ResourcesFrom May 19th - 23rd, 2025, 24 passionate and visionary fellows from 10 Niger Delta states will converge in Awka, Anambra State, for an intensive leadership journey rooted in climate justice, equity, and inclusion.
They came from oil-impacted communities, mining host towns, and forest reserves 22 fellows from across the Niger Delta, carrying stories of loss, resilience, and hope. The day one opened with a stirring charge from Mr. Monday Osasah, Executive Director of Centre LSD: "You are not ordinary. This is not about applause - this is a call to purpose." He spoke not just of opportunity, but of responsibility to run with purpose, challenge exclusionary systems, and become the voice of the voiceless in their communities. Then the learning journey began.
Under the guidance of Mr. Itia Otabor, fellows were immersed in two foundational modules:
The case studies shared during the sessions were what truly brought the day to life. - Bayelsa, where an audit report sparked a movement for oil accountability. - Ogoni Land, where the Bodo community turned tragedy into a fight for environmental justice. You could see it in their eyes, fellows lit up, not just with knowledge, but with recognition: That's our story too.
In those moments, Day 1 became more than training. It became a mirror, a map, and a call to action. And this is just the beginning.
