Senior Programme Officer
Lawal Amodu studied at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and University of Jos, Jos, in Nigeria and holds a Bachelor and Master of Arts Degree in history respectively. He began his career in the non-governmental sector as an intern with Global Rights, Nigeria and since then has worked with the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) where he rose to the position of Programme Officer in Democracy and Political Governance Unit. He has also worked with several coalitions including the Citizens Forum for Constitutional Reform (CFCR) as Assistant Secretary and Secretary; as well as the Constitutional Reform Dialogue Mechanism (CRDM) as the Resident Technical Assistant (RTA). He has also worked with West African Civil Society Forum (WACSOF). He has a strong bias for issues around democracy and good governance and has successfully implemented various projects on these issues. He has participated in national and international mission/fora including the election observation. His strength lies in programme/project implementation, facilitating strategic consultations with stakeholders and partners, advocacy, networking, coalition management and research.
He currently works with African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) as a Senior Programme Officer with focus on Youth participation as well as the Environment both of which serve to expand his views and perspectives on these and other governance issues, and by extension contribute to the overall goal of the organization.
