CENTRE LSD EMBARKS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF ABAJI AREA COUNCIL’S

OGP LOCAL ACTION PLAN.

In furtherance with its commitment to onboard Local Government Areas unto the Open Government Partnership (OGP), the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) under its project “Promoting Transparency and Accountability in the governance process through the implementation of Open Government Partnership in Nigeria”, commenced a two-day workshop for the development of Open Government Partnership (OGP) Local Action Plan (LAP) for Abaji  Area Council of the FCT.
press statement released by the Programme Coordinator of Centre LSD, Mr. Lawal Amodu, stated that the two-day event is expected to produce a two-year plan that will guide the Area Council in the implementation of Open Governance principles. He noted that the development of an action plan will show in greater detail how the Council will achieve its OGP objectives.
He recalled that several engagements had been done to bring Abaji Area Council on board the OGP. These efforts have ultimately led to the Council declaration of intent to join the OGP in January 2025 and today, the Council is set to define its OGP Local Action Plan parameters for implementation over the next two years.
The Area Council is the fourth FCT Area Council after AMAC, Gwagwalada and Kwali to join the OGP in Nigeria. The objective of signing up to the OGP is to make the governance process open, transparent, accountable and make citizens a central part of the processes.
The statement enjoined well-meaning citizens to engage the Centre LSD OGP Project through the various social media channels:
